0-batucada12e.jpgThe batucada CORES DO BRASIL was founded in Paris by professional Brazilian musicians who were  fanatic of brazilian percussion.

A batucada is a Brazilian traditional percussive music whose rhythmic formulas are a sub-genre of samba. Members of a samba ensemble are called ritmistas, especially if they are integrated into a school of samba.

By extension, the term batucada is used in France to designate a group of musicians practicing this kind of music.

All instruments (mostly percussion) constitute a battery of percussion which "beat" (batucada in Brazilian portuguese) is the origin of the name.

The battery of percussion is the heart of samba schools in Rio de Janeiro and ensures the rhythmic part of their musical compositions (Samba de enredo). In this case they are referred to as samba drums.

All the members of CORES DO BRASIL are Brazilian and most of them pursue independent careers in renowned ensembles. CORES DO BRASIL performs on stage or marching, on the occasion of street venues or indoors. From 6 to 30 musicians, with dancer (s) and capoeiristas depending on shows.
