ONDA CUBANA (Cuba son music)

When musicians from Havana meet in Paris, they are generally quick to find the path to concert halls, especially if they are composers. It was at the initiative of singer guitarist Carlos Napoles, a student of Compay Segundo and tresero Over Alvarez Martinez that Onda Cubana was founded in Paris in 2005.

Born in 1977 in Havana, Carlos learnt guitar at the age of 12 years with Compay Segundo "I was 12 years when I met Compay. He lived in the same street as my grandmother. My grandmother bought me my first guitar. I remember that my grandmother told me: "your guitar is like your wife, you will not lend it to anyone! ".

Every Thursday evening, Compay would teach me the guitar I became his student. It lasted two years.Then in college, I formed the band Son y Trova. It was my first band."

Carlos then integrated the Amadeo Roldan Conservatory of Havana and the Conservatory Manuel Saumel. While studying he played with the band "Son of Jijigga» with which he participated in many national festivals. In 1999, he joined the "Sexteto Ecos Siboney." Their cooperation will last until 2002.

Carlos moved to Paris in 2003 and worked as lead singer and guitarist for the French-Cuban band "Barrio del Este." In 2005, he founded the band «Onda Cubana" with Over Luis Martinez: "I met Over with the band Barrio del Este. This is when we decided to create our own band of Cuban Son. Onda Cubana was born like that".

Their repertoire which comprises songs from both composers together with the  most beautiful Cuban tunes has a real exotic freshness.

ONDA CUBANA performs on wild rhythms as trio or in large ensemble. Concerts suitable for all audiences.
