ROBIN (mixed maloya Folklore, Réunion Island)
Author-Composer-Performer, Robin was born in the Reunion Island, a French overseas province in the Indian Ocean. He moved to Paris in 1997 where he worked with several bands before starting to compose and produce his own albums.
The undeniable originality of ROBIN ‘s music comes from the mixture of genres which cannot leave anyone indifferent and which is typical of his own country.
There is the "Maloya", the traditional music of Reunion, where Indian and African percussion mix and align perfectly with lyrics, most of them in Reunion Creole, but also in a "dream” language invented by Robin himself.
Robin pays a large tribute to maloya and its most famous singers such as the late Gramoun Lélé but he does so with great gentleness, sometimes even a touch of nostalgia borrowing sounds from folk, African and sega music from Mauritius. The music and the voice of Robin are both flattering and soothing. His compositions are a fine example of fusion research on World Music.
Up to 6 musicians on stage. Concerts suitable for all audiences.
