World Music Production is a cultural association dedicated to promoting world music and dance. Our association offers ‘made-to-measure’ artistic services to theatres, companies, local authorities, festivals, associations, specialist establishments and individuals on themes as varied as Brazil, Cuba (son, salsa), the West Indies, Africa, Gospel, India, Celtic music, Piedmont blues, Flamenco, Cajun and Zydeco music, Gypsy jazz, Hawaiian swing, Klezmer music, Maloya, Oriental pop, Australian blues and Latin jazz... Alongside its concerts and shows, WORLD MUSIC PRODUCTION also runs popular education and personal development initiatives through its batucada, African dance, capoeira, Afro-Brazilian dance and African percussion workshops, which it runs in schools, sports halls, activity centres, youth clubs, dance studios and so on.
WORLD MUSIC PRODUCTION aims to facilitate intercultural dialogue by offering artistic activities on the theme of world music. As a showcase for world music, WORLD MUSIC PRODUCTION brings together artists, companies, musical groups, entertainers and professional teachers in a unique structure showcasing their complementary talents. All the members of the association defend the same shared values, which they express through music and dance: bringing people together, the need to work for peace, the right to be different, the fight against inequality and discrimination, and a commitment to solidarity. They are also recognised for their motivation and ability to develop socio-cultural projects for all, based on respect, tolerance and acceptance of others, and which highlight their culture of origin.
North or South, West or East, music and dance play an important role in every culture. They accompany every moment of life, from birth to the passage to the afterlife. They are universal languages, facilitating communication between peoples. Music and dance also play an essential role in the quest for identity... Who among us, far from home, hasn't felt the need to listen or dance to the music of our native land? WORLD MUSIC PRODUCTION was created with this in mind. While the association sees itself as a place where anyone interested in world music and dance can meet and exchange ideas, its main aim is to encourage intercultural dialogue through the artistic forms of expression that are music and dance.
From the outset, the association's aim has been to make a long-term commitment to promoting world music and dance as a factor in social integration and self-fulfilment, for both audiences and artists. By developing its activities in working-class neighbourhoods, the association aims to : ✓ Encouraging social and cultural diversity by promoting diversity as a source of wealth ✓ Combating prejudice and discrimination against foreign cultures ✓ Creating spaces conducive to encounters, discovering others and personal enrichment ✓ Defending the right of access to culture for all, from the earliest age ✓ Improve and embellish the living environment of local residents by organising a wide range of warm and colourful cultural events ✓ Offer events that strengthen social ties and encourage people to communicate with each other ✓ To give young and not-so-young people the opportunity to express themselves and develop through contact with other cultures by learning about the arts. ✓ Encouraging cultural and social practices in working-class neighbourhoods
