Born in Paris, the instrumental ensemble Djeravica brings together four musicians performing on double bass, accordion, viola, and davul, around the compositions of violist Paul-Julian Quillier.
Djeravica defines itself as a brassless fanfare, where the davul, the emblematic drum of Balkan brass bands, joins a formation inspired by the traditional tarafs of Romania and Moldova*.
With its raw and captivating sound, the quartet offers listeners its own musical world, where twilight landscapes come alive with dancing rhythms, fiery improvisations, and mischievous harmonies. Since its creation, the ensemble has performed in bars, village festivals, and larger events, creating festive and collective moments where dance and emotion are always present.
* Tarafs are traditional ensembles of four to ten musicians from Romania and Moldova. In Wallachia, tarafs are usually made up of a cimbalom, violin(s), accordion(s), double bass, and percussion.
